Writing Robin: what to watch for
Robin is 5 letters, which is about the sweet spot for a first name a preschooler is learning to write — long enough to feel like their whole name, short enough to finish without the hand getting tired.
The capital R is a curved letter. Curves are harder than straight lines for small hands, so it's worth practising the R on its own a few times before running the whole name.
Watch the tall letters — b reaches all the way up to the top line, not just to the dashed middle line. Short ascenders are the most common thing to correct at this age.
Expect the odd flip with b. Reversing b/d and p/q is completely normal well into age six or seven and is not a warning sign — tracing the correct shape repeatedly is exactly how it resolves.
